Biography
Artist Shannon Meadows has always pursued methods of self-expression, writing poetry as a child and as a creative writing major and published author of short fiction in college. She also minored in dance, studying with several improvisational dance pioneers. After graduating, Shannon began a career in the technology industry first as a technical writer then in sales and executive management. There was always an element of creativity in her profession as she worked with companies whose products combined graphics and animation and computer hardware and software. The customers and users of the products and company specialists were often artists. Shannon began painting in 2000 when a massage therapist suggested painting and color therapy as a way to cope with stress.
Shannon studies oil painting with Susan Manders, renowned Olympic artist, in Studio City near Los Angeles. Shannon’s work quickly evolved into situational images, many of women, and studies in the myriad textures and colors that can be created with oil paints. Shannon has exhibited her work at galleries in Los Angeles as well as at businesses in the Los Angeles area. Her original canvases typically sell for $2,000 to $3,000. Shannon lives in Sherman Oaks, near Los Angeles, where she continues to grow as an artist and refine her vibrant and evocative style of painting.
“Shannon’s work impresses me as she continues to evolve, always constantly asking more through risk taking, experimentation, use of color and composition. The canvasses clearly speak for themselves inasmuch they reflect her strength as a painter.” -Susan Manders, Olympic Artist
